Nope. Always a manager (barring the few non-wrestler getting his ass kicked matches). This is from Continental Wrestling in mid 1988when he was managing the late great Eddie Gilbert.

@Sargebri The seeds for the revolution actually were planted in 1988 if you look at Eddie Gilbert and Paul Heyman's run booking 1988 Continental Championship Wrestling. They did some angles that were shocking for 1988 (The Dirty White Boy/Tom Pritchard angle is still shocking today)

Of course, a few years later Eddie Gilbert would become booker for a small east coast independent called Eastern Championship Wrestling. A few years later, Paul E. would take over the company and re-christened it Extreme Championship Wrestling and the revolution had begun.
