I literally can't think of anything worse than dying dressed like the headless horsewoman, leaping from a very famous building, knowing it didn't work and you're about to die and being captured as a complete fool on one of the worlds first ever video cameras so that people can laugh at your brazen stupidity for all time! - Tough BREAK! Shame he couldn't FALL through the CRACK's of history!

François Reichelt French tailor inventor and parachuting pioneer "the Flying Tailor" is remembered for his death by jumping from the Eiffel Tower in a wearable parachute of his own design. Reichelt become fixated on developing a suit for aviators that would convert into a parachute allowing them to survive a fall should they be forced to leave their aircraft. Experiments conducted with dummies had been successful but he was unable to replicate those early successes with subsequent designs.
