  • On the other hand talking about using the charter of freedoms over the bill of rights won't fly with Americans at all. That is something that the U.S. won't compromise on. Overall it is an interesting and worthy discussion which he makes some great points but some of the guy's statements are very wrong.

  • I'm for merging the U.S. and Canada however I do think Les Horswill is wrong on some things and others is worried about nothing. Quebec's civil code and french language being two things he's worried about for no reason. Louisiana uses civil code and New Mexico has both English and Spanish as official languages. So I don't see what the problem is their.

  • @mryounion As far as what the average person would gain out of this a few things automatically spring to the front of my mind. First several towns in North America that are literally cut in half would no longer be so people wouldn't have to worry about going over to their neighbors house breaking international laws just to have a cup of coffee. The second would be for dual citizens of both countries being able to go back and forth with less hassle than before. I could go on if you like?

  • @mryounion I take it you didn't watch the whole video since the guy isn't talking about creating a north american union the man is talking about Canada choicing to ask the United States to become part of it while negotiating details to make the transitation smoother.

  • The only entity that would receive a benefit from such a union would be the multi-national corporations. Not Canadians and not Americans. Look at the problems with the EEU. Greece's problems right now would happen in one(or many)states or provinces. Can't you people see that? The powers that be need to fool us into thinking that this would benefit us. This would greatly benefit the federal govts and corporations in strengthening the strangle hold they have on us and how we live our daily lives.

  • canada and the U.S.= America, i`m all for a merger

  • @danscoolpaper US and Canada are trade partner and we always consider Canadian as brother, the relation between the 2 countries is incomparable. i don't think i want to united but they create and economically tie, a trade bloc like the EU.

  • the interviewer , although appearing to be sceptical about Mr. Horswill`s suggestion overall, himself struggles majorly to name things that could do for being considered "canadian" apart from what is american. that tells you a lot.

  • lol at the canadian interviewer saying "our less fascination with guns" well, the point to begin with, why the americans got so "fascinated" by having guns is because it helped them to establish their state and independence from the british crown, something canada has still to do yet, get rid of the damn british crown and again, join the union! i can't wait, man it will be great :) ...hopefully soon... i salute you mister horswill :)

  • this man is GREAT, just learnt about him on a forum that deals with this topic ,canada should just make it officia finally!it's been apparent for a long time to the entire world anyhow (except for crown loyalists fearmongering in canada and trying to create perceivable differences), become fully integrated and join the union, since canada is america anyway and there are NO REAL differences to name except canada has french speaking parts (but the u.s. has spanish speakers just likewise)

  • I wouldn't mind just having one country. However, I believe implementing a North American Union is more likely to happen.
