You know, you said that you've never been under the influence of psychedelics, but you have! DMT is stored on the pineal gland, and is the most "hallucinogenic" substance known to mankind. And we all receive a large dose when we sleep at night. I suggest you search for the pineal gland and DMT if you haven't done it already :)

Yes, you're absolutely right about DMT, and apparently some small percentage of the population produce larger amounts than others. I've talked a number of times about Graham Hancock's book "Supernatural" which makes the interesting point that religions are founded on ecstatic visions of heavenly hosts, burning bushes, that sort of thing, and that when a religion then develops to the point where the public are told they can't have these direct connections to the spiritual that's a bad thing.
