This is my second guitar lesson. This one is all about setting up and maintaining your guitar to have a great metal sound and tone.

We'll cover truss rods, intonation, action, and other things you can do to improve the playability and sound of your guitar.

  • Great video bro what kind of strings do you use, what gauge?

  • @rahkmavalous1 Thanks man. I use 11's.

  • and those magnets are drawing in strings, so they are loosing vibrations faster ;) and that causes worse sustain. thats just physics and i've checked it, only a fact that i wanted you to know, no offence dude :D i really like ur covers and lessons, thanks for them :) and sorry for my english

  • @27davidsantana Yes dude you are right no offense taken, heheh. I know what you are saying. Personally I'd rather trade the sustain for loudness and a harder attack though.

  • Is it true, that "if" I change the strings, from say .010 to .011 or higher, I have to intonate it (again)? I only changed to Ernie Ball stainless strings on my SG (.010), and the intonation changed, not by much, but a little.

  • @TechnicalFreak You probably won't have to, but it really depends from guitar to guitar. I'd say it's a good idea to check it anyway.

haha, same as me, on bridge pickup i need lots of signal, i will get sustain from neck one if i will need it ;) cheers shredder, thx for your effort that you put in making those lessons :) btw, one little question - playing what genre of music will give me more skills improvment: death metal (mostly Death) or metalcore (Parkway Drive, The Human Abstract (sweet band), All That Remains etc) ? i'd be glad to hear your opinion, it will be helpfull to make my mind and decide well ;)
