Bioo Scientific develops a rapid-response melamine test kit using an enzyme identified by researchers in Professor Larry Wackett's lab in the BioTechnology Institute at the College of Biological Sciences. Milk and baby formula adulterated with melamine, added to boost yield, caused thousands of children to become ill in China. The field kit allows for testing for melamine at the source before widespread contamination can occur.
