The primary focus of Pearl's 2011 NAMM booth was the new Reference Pure kit, which stakes it claim on the resonant benefits of low-mass construction in the makeup of both shells and hardware. Pearl also introduced a finish upgrade for the Masters MCX 6-ply 100-percent maple legacy shell (the very shell Jeff Porcaro made famous) — it's a faux camo finish that looks remarkably like the real thing (check out our extreme close-up for hard proof). We also saw some new colors in the entry-level Vision series, Birch Lacquer, and Birch Custom series. Nice stuff.

  • Got a new Pearl limited edition 5 piece mahogany kit with a joey jordison snare! Beautiful sound and feel! Its amazing!!

  • can't believe pearl changed their lugs...

  • @poolking36 I have a Chestnut Fade MCX too. Sign up to the Pearl Drummers Forum, and put it on there. There's a good amount of us who own Chestnut Fade too!

  • Awesome drum kits.I have anew masters mcx in chestnut fade.amazing kit with buckets of volume and tone.

  • @punkrockdrummer1990 funny dude.. i have a 1971 pearl woodfiberglass kit that i think can burn the ludwig kit of the same year.... infack it burns just about any kit it stacks up against except pearl reference 2009

  • @DrumYourFaceOff1 Is that a problem?! I would say; "for every thing, there is a price to pay", The drumkits from Pearl are all highclass drumsets, especially the reference and Masters series are topclass drumsets. Besides: Pearl has a much longer tradition in building/developing drumsets than brands like; DW,PDP, Taye, Mapex etc...This long experience you find back in the drumkit it self. Cheers!

  • The problem with pearl is that no average person can afford their kits, but people who can afford it would rather spend it on a higher class kit. They need to lower the prices for theses kits.

  • Im sold on Crush...ill just throw that out there...but regardless....

I like the concept Pearl is going with now. I havent always been a pearl person.......but again i like the idea.....
