When people try to comfort you about a dramatic happening in your life, they often tell you it was 'Just (not) meant to be this way.' Do you believe this?

  • I don't believe in a "puppet master" of sorts controlling my life, but I do believe that society and nature give us various options...paths if you will. We get to choose from these paths, but factors in our past also influence the paths we choose. lol, it's difficult to explain. It's like, we have free will, but natural laws and situations restrict our free will.

  • @wangocopperboom I get it! I'm still doubting about how I think about that. Kind off like when doing tarot cards and getting 'possible futures'. Not really sure what you exactly mean by 'natural laws' though?

  • @CyV555 What I mean by natural law is *kind of* like science and social norms combined. For example, Earth's gravity keeps things from floating off into space. Or for a social example, I could dye my hair pink, but I won't if I know it will affect my job prospects. I want to say there's some existentialism in there, but I don't understand existentialism enough to make a solid claim on that.

In fact, I may have confused myself more on the matter XD
