Here is another music based video I have set to my latest favorite movie "The Burning Plain" directed by Guillermo Arriaga and starring Charlize Theron and Kim Basinger. Shot in Oregon, New Mexico and Texas in late 2007 and early 2008, the film is Arriaga's latest interconnecting storylined film, his trademark of sorts in filmmaking and his directorial-debut.
The Burning Plain tells the story of several different people separated by time space -- Mariana, a 16-year old girl trying to piece together the shattered lives of her parents in a Mexican border town; Sylvia, a woman in Portland who must undertake an emotional odyssey to burnish a sin from her past; Gina and Nick, a couple who must deal with an intense and clandestine affair because they are both married; and Maria, a little girl who must help her parents find redemption, forgiveness, and love.
I set it to the song "The Lost Get Found" by Britt Nicole because throughout the film, even though there is a sense of hopelessness and guilt raging through each of the main characters, you feel there is also a high chance of hope as well. Being a family drama of many sorts, there are lots of underlying themes and details to be seen and I recommend the film to anyone whom has had their own dramatics with their families.
