David Amram's score for this great movie really grows on me. Hard to describe its appeal.
It's like it starts out pretending to sound pleasant and optimistic, but goes kind of sour and dissonant. It's like Hitchcock's idea of "blood dripping on daisies".

@axecalibore What an amazing comment! Great to hear from you, and your opinion is like none other! I especially like the reference to Hitchcock! You're so right in that this piece seems to begin on a "high" note, but the rest is rather all "downhill." Sent this to a family member who reminded me that I'd been introduced to this composer about a century ago. I only vaguely remember; I was 18 at the time. Forget having met him, but will never forget his music. Thanks for writing!
