@baconnet985 Ebonics was movement in the US education system. The idea was to educate black children using more common language that was used in their homes and communities. It was hugely controversial. Many thought it was a terrible idea to "teach kids slang" in school, and were worried that it would reinforce the racial divide when it came to education and integration into society, especially future employment. "Ebonics" is a combination of Ebony and Phonics.
