The training device mentioned is basically a litter pan that fits under the toilet seat. First move their normal litter box next to the toilet. Then raise it up to the same level as the toilet(on a chair for instance). Then put the litter box on the toilet. Then replace the normal litter box with the pan so they are standing on the seat when they go. Then one day simply remove the pan and they will go straight into the toilet. The key is taking baby steps.
Just remember to warn houseguests!
