A minor league baseball player snatched a ball that bounced off his head out of the air and threw it to second base to help turn what may be the weirdest triple play of all time.

Nashville Sounds centerfielder Logan Scafer made the one-of-a-kind play Saturday night on a ball hit by the Omaha Storm Chasers' Clint Robinson.

After appearing to misjudge the fly ball, Scafer raced toward the fence, his back to the plate. The ball hit his glove, then bounced off his head to his right. He coolly snatched it out of the air, wheeled and threw to the second baseman Eric Farris, who stepped on the bag and fired over to first baseman Matt Gamel to retire a pair of confused baserunners.

Scafer, whose team won, 4-1, told minorleaguebaseball.com he took some ribbing in the dugout.

"It was a little bit of disbelief and a lot of humor," [Schafer] said. "When the ball hits you on your head, it's pretty embarrassing, but I'm glad I could catch it. They were all laughing quite a bit, it's a pretty funny play. Everyone was kind of in disbelief and they were all cracking up."
