Upholstery Seam Waterproofing with hot melt. Used with vinyls and other materials for patio, boating and shower seating
An easy way to seal the overlapping seams on the bottom side of these products is to apply a flat bead of industrial clear hot melt from a pneumatic hot melt gun.
In this process the adhesive covers and wicks into the seal. The proper gun/nozzle combination will allow for the seaming at a fast and consistent rate.

when applying the vinyl to a car door, is it best to spray the adhesive onto the material, wait for it to become tacky then use a heat gun to stretch the vinyl into place, or use the heat gun first, then the adhesive?
