Dave MacDonald & Bob Holbert co-pilot the Shelby Daytona Cobra Coupe to its first-ever victory in the 12 hrs of Sebring race held March 21st, 1964. The drivers finished 1st GT and 4th overall to give America it's highest ever finish in the grueling international endurance race.
Sidenote. This was a milestone victory for Dave MacDonald too as it would distinguish him as the man who drove each of the legendary Shelby Cobras - Cobra Roadster 260ci, Cobra Roadster 289ci, King Cobra, KIng Cobra Lang-Cooper & the Daytona Cobra - to their first-ever victories.
Great video!. Historic race for America with Macdonald & Holbert winning the Gran Turismo class. That Shelby Daytona Coupe (CSX2287) is one of only six, and the only one built in the US. It went "missing" for 40 yrs until resurfacing in 2001 and subsequently sold. This car's racing history and rarity puts its current value well above $10M

Great footage for lovers of the 60's Cobra competion era. 289's, 48 IDA Webers, and a T10 4speed who could know what the future would hold. Thanks for the memories

Wish there more videos of this quality. My father raced here from 60 through 66. In this video he stuffed the Abarth at 1:11 in to the video
