This tragic song and the scene preceding it are from Ramanand Sagar's epic serial Lav Kush (sequel to Ramayan). The scene at the beginning, which has been cut from new dvd editions, shows the Valmiki's young disciples cutely wonder how Sita Maa can stay so quiet all day. The song that follows shows how Sita and Ram are tortured by their separation and dwell in past memories. It is written and composed by Ravindra Jain, and he sings it along with Hemlata. It has been shortened in new DVDs.
Didn't know about the dialogue preceding this song. Once again, thank you soooo much for all you do for the die-hard fans!
Question: There is a common theme in the background that is played anytime Ram is remembering Sita or the issue of her character arises. I think has that element of melancholy in it, that I could hear it when I think about it. Was it edited in or was it in the original?

most welcome!! funny dialogue isn't it :)
the theme your talking about, if that's the one from when Ram's staring out the window before laying on his ghaas ka bichhona, with the violin-bansuri combo, its there in the original too
