Daylight (1996) Movie Review 2/2

This time I review the 1996 disaster movie Daylight starring Sylvester Stallone. The Holland Tunnel collapses due to an accident in which a speeding car wrecks into a truck carrying toxic waste. Other trucks carrying the same material explode in a chain reaction, destroying the tunnel and leaving its' inhabitants trapped.

Sylvester Stallone is a former EMS chief called Kit Latura, who must travel inside in order to save the trapped residents.

Sly takes on the tunnel...and other than the subpar supporting cast, this is an exciting, entertaining, special effects ride with a great performance by Stallone, a solid score (as well as the wonderful song "Whenever There Is Love" By Donna Summer and Bruce Roberts), and terrific special effects & action sequences.

Rob Cohen directed the flick, and co-stars Amy Brenneman, Dan Hedaya, Viggo Mortensen, Stan Shaw, Sage Stallone, and Danielle Harris.

I think Daylight is a good film for what it is trying to be at least, I think it may have just suffered from seen it all before when it was released. Stallone had done so many one man savoir films especially in a row at the time and i think that was the problem for it. I actually think it was great entertainment and I think you hit the nail on the head with the supporting cast. Like yous aid it is far better than so many other films which dont get shit on like daylight does.

I kinda like when I see the Twin Towers in a movie and was strongly opposed when they suggested cutting them out of films. It is recorded history and a reminder of a different time.

I like Daylight. I think alot of people who saw it, didn't like it because of the plot.
