  • As an African American psychologist, I absolutely love this clip. This clip shows the

challenges and pain individuals with mental illness experience, especially African American males. We need to raise more awareness!

  • @MsChloeeb Thanks so VERY much for this most heartfelt and encouraging comment. I plan to PM you very shortly. Please stop by my page when you have time and read it's mission statement and see the lead video that plays on it's page. I am a consumer of mental health services myself and I have produced a series of mental health and mental illness videos such as this one to highlight the stigma, denial and lack of access etc within the Black Community as it pertains to Mental Illness. Thanks!

  • Hi miguel, in my eyes the brainmapping provokes misunderstandings. As presented in your vid, someone could come to the conclusion, that all schizophrenics are loosing their brain tissue. These brainmappings were made with young teens (12-1x years) In this age also the 'sane' brain is rearranged (brain marked blue equals a loss of 15% of brain tissue). So IF start of disease is at age 12 they loose 10% more (-> 25%). Sorry for correcting. I found the presentation irritating. cheers

  • @greenwoodonearth It's okay. Whether or not we always agree on the issues is irrelevant to me. I am just glad that we are still around and I am always happy to hear from you papa.- no worries! :O)

  • @caramel100percent thanks so much mama!

  • @COOLIKEDATAZIAN Ay papi - this is how it works - someone shares - someone gets inspired learns then shares some more. then slowly and steadily brick by brick & day by day more people can come to understand that people living with mental illness are just simply people too! thank you so much - you have NO IDEA how this really made my day. thank you a THOUSAND times - the world is not enough!

  • I gotta say that because of you my last class I had to write a paper on certain mental diseases and since I remember you talking about it I decided to research and write about it. There is so much I have learned and you are truly an inspiration to help people understand the truths and myths about schizophrenia! Hope you are doing well. Great video!

  • @cokobadonk I appreciate that you could relate to this story. As you know this is all too often the story of we who are affected by schizophrenia - particularly we men of color who for a myriad of reasons don't receive the help that we need. I love you papa too - this you know.
