GOING APE II - starts Feb 23rd @ 9pm only on Animal Planet.
In this heart rending, frontline series, we follow Gorilla and Chimpanzee orphans fight to stay alive, as they try to overcome the physical and psychological scars given to them in West Africas illegal bush meat and pet trades.
Going Ape II documents the selfless efforts of Rachel Hogan, Felix Lankester, Sheri Speede and Babs Tafon and their dedicated teams of veterinarians and volunteers as they work to save and rehabilitate endangered chimpanzees and gorillas in the rainforest.
Apes feel every emotion from trauma to grief to joy. These are stories of survival against the odds in West Africas Cameroon, where eating the meat of chimpanzees and gorillas is unquestioned.
We meet the traumatised Shufai the Gorilla who was peppered with shotgun pellets; Gah the Chimp who is paralysed from the waist down after falling from a tree, only to be confiscated from a man who dealt in animals and drugs; and Nino the chimp who survives a brutal attack by another male only to lose an eye.
@deeandshey Yaay! And then you'll be euthanizing a pet chimp when you get a little older than that! Because they don't stay that size forever, and they get violent. You heard them say that one of those chimps was attacked by another chimp, right? You know that a fully grown chimp (it only takes about 5 years) can literally rip a man's arm off, right?

They blame man for the plight of the chimp when it is widely known that apes and monkeys will each other and their babies in massive numbers. They are cruel and vicious.
