@MeatyVitaminE I think that association is only kind of natural because they were both giants who had quickly become something bigger than they could emotionally deal with, they were both amazing musicians whose lives ended too early, the last generation had Janice Joplin and Jimmy Hendrix, I had Kurt Cobain and Shannon Hoon, I say embrace that and celebrate the work of all four of them

aside from being an amazing poet (and I do think he holds his own with Dylan) Shannon Hoon was also an amazing voice, I don't think he gets enough respect for either; simply because he was a tortured soul and died way too early does not mean that he wasn't great both as a poet and a vocalist
