playing this solo of Mark Knopfler, which he did on the song Layla with Eric Clapton. playing for montserrat. played it with my Gibson LP-295. I don't come near Mark, but this solo I love it so much :D Feel free to comment.

  • Your guitar is a bit out of tune and your string attack is too heavy due to the use of a pick... would have been smoother (and nearer to original) with finger picking...

    I know but I can't play finger picking :( Wish I could.

  • @lagels All you have to do is practice without a pic...start watching guys like Knopfler and Derek Trucks. I started focusing more on my fingers and am not to the point where I rarely use one...

  • @lagels keep at it champ, learn something like money for nothing, or something else by knopfler.should help you develop your fingerstyle, its a useful thing to have in your arsenal ;)

  • @lagels hey pretty cool cover, you told that you learned it by ear, i play for a long time guitar but im not able to play songs by ear so how did you get skill ? is it just a question of talent feeling or did you some special exercises for it ?
