Characteristic music by the Guvnor. He could pull any group of musicians together and make them an integrated whole. Don't ask me how but it was wonderful to hear. My first Colyer gig was 1956.................

What a piano player. He is fantastic.

Without Colyer there would have been noTraditional/New Orleans Jazz scene in the UK and probably Europe. He inspired many of the greats of the time and later years In fact , many played in his band for a time. - He wasn't an easy guy to be with apparently BUT enormously talented and committed to the music.
I first heard one of his records in 1956 and was hooked from then on. sadly I missed seeing him at the Sportsmans Guild in manchester but did see him many years later at the Bowdon Rooms.
