@whokeithmoon ...Yes, that is correct! I was living in Sacramento, CA at the time, and I seem to remember the sky being hazy from the ash within a day or two of the eruption.

@stuckinthecities To be fair if you just saw a volcanic eruption you'd probably forget what day (or in this case, what month) it was! I do agree that if it hasn't already been submitted, this footage should probably be offered to an archive or something because there aren't many moving images showing the eruption, and it's possible someone might be able to enhance the film to reveal more detail, too.

This is really great of you yo upload this! This is the first home movie of that eruption I have ever seen. It's a nice change of perspective from media made recordings. It shows how regular everyday people react to to it without someone editing things for t.v and so forth.
