  • Did Air France Concorde ever have service to Rio

  • The first commercial flight back in 1976 was Paris-Dakar-Rio de Janeiro. Actually, this Concorde brought Roger Moore to Rio for the filming of Moonraker.

  • What a beautiful way to arrive in Rio! Today's British government would probably send Bond on a budget airline!

  • Great capture of Concorde's famous "delta-wing swirl". I feel robbed that she'll never fly again.

Was very fortunate to have seen Concorde when she visited my hometown of Regina, Canada one rainy spring day in 1987. We could hear the powerful roar of her engines, but couldn't see her due to the heavy overcast - then she gracefully emerged from the clouds and swooped down like a bird of prey. Saw her stunning take off as well; both days were sights and sounds still unmatched. Fond, fond memories.

  • @redrugbylad Yep no doubt about it unless you've bought and paid several government officials into office for future bribes even spies like Bond are considered not worth the price even though he saves the planet! Talk about cheap bureaucrats! No wonder the villains have it so easy skirting the law doing what they do!

  • We were watching Concorde take off on its first flight from Bristol. Living in the Cotswolds, we jumped in the car and drove to Fairford. Hopping over the perimeter fence, we were sitting on the grass at the end of the runway when the great plane made its maiden landing - about 40 feet away!! I have the photos to prove it.

  • Such a beautiful plane. What a pity they're gone.

  • This is the 1st time I ever saw or heard of the Concorde...in this movie. I think I was about 6 or 7 years old, totally amazed by this beautiful bird. Only wish I had a chance to fly on them before they were retired.

  • @redrugbylad believe me, it ain't beautiful.

  • Who;s 727 was that?

  • 0:16 James Bond/Roger Moore is seen deplaning via airstairs from the Air France Concorde

  • such a sad end

  • Money and a lack of will and heart in Airbus' part.

  • why did they discontinue the planes

  • You seem to be a fan of Concord, so you should know it is just Concorde not 'the' Concorde.

  • Air France sent Concorde to commercial serivce to Mexico City 1978 - 1982 twice a week (Paris-Washington-Mexico DF). My grandfather worked on Air France Mexico those years and he used to go outside the airport and watch it land and take off. He got it on tape too, don't know how to put the tapes on to dvd or vhs, i'd like to upload the amazing videos on youtube.

  • They filmed this immediately after Roger Moore arrived in Rio. After he'd dropped off his stuff at his hotel, they drove him right back to the airport to shoot the scene of Bond getting off the plane.

  • I am from Brazil!!!

  • At the beginning of their operating time flew the Concorde even after Rio de Janeiro and Singapore, but ultimately remained the only line operation between Paris and London and New York. The Concorde with around 6,000 kilometres for longer non-stop flights was to small, on the other hand, got the machine to many airports no landing permit, because it was too loud. The charter flew the Concorde (mostly from prestige reasons) and other airports.

  • hmm... Maybe the one hope is a much larger fuselage to house a tank of Slush Methane!

  • It's already hard enough to feed regular jets with oil price increasing so unless Airbus manage to shrinken an atomic pile to propel the plane ;) the Concorde along with the Tupolev 144 will remain aeronautical legendary exceptions :(

  • I love how he has a Rolls waiting at the plane...no customs, etc!

  • I don't care what they say: if they'd eliminate the dipping nose, install a PNVS undernose to eliminate all that dead-weight, they really should put the Concorde back into production! I thought planes get cheaper to build if you build and improved older design?

  • i love the tupolev tu-144
