Our Blue Collar Workers Need a National Adult Education Recovery Act

In the current financial crisis, we are bombarded by TV and newspaper accounts of people losing their jobs and companies going bankrupt. GM is just the biggest corporate debacle and maybe the one that will affect the greatest number of people in low-income jobs as the impacts of its bankruptcy ripple through the economy. Despite wishful predictions that the recession will soon bottom out, its obvious that we need to help Americans who are in poverty reach safe economic ground.

Using resources currently available, including the internet, we can train Americans quickly, just like we did in World War II when we created doctors in under two years.
