Peace and stability is the only goal, there is no prize when this is over. If I hear of any pipelines being buit for the US I will forever be making it an issue of shame.

@oldskoolchopperboy Karzai has been pleading with the US for a long time to negotiate, this has been ignored, The US actually wants control of the region, The UK is taking the lead in Peace talks, President Karzai has said today that it is the UK at the forefront not the US, the last thing the US wants is to stop now, it totally puts the brakes on their ambitions.
You talk about winning and compare to Vietnam, the US will win nothing in Afghanistan,

It's about paying off the Taliban to lay down their arms, you can sugar coat it as much as you like, but it is evident you have little understanding of what is really going on there, have you ever been there?
My friend is out there right now reporting,The west have never left Afghanistan alone, The US have been using these people for decades. Their problems have been created by the west in the first place,mainly the US, we are trying to fix the monster we have created.
