In The 2009 Berlin Film Festival a director from Spain, Claudia Llosa was awarded the Golden Bear, the highest award giving by this well known European Festival. In her film, La Teta Asustada or The Milk of Sorrow there is a scene in which a real live injured dove is thrown to a dog, at the end of the scene the bird struggles for its life. Do you think this is a form of animal cruelty? Is it right for filmmakers to use animals as props? Please leave your comments regarding this serious issue. I dont think anyone should use any living creatures as a prop in a film especially when its injured. I even wonder how they managed to get an injured dove? Did they create the injury for this scene? In another of her films she had used an agonizing rat which was grabbed by its tail and thrown towards some rocks, it is then seen struggling for air. What do you think? See the clip and comment. Hopefully the film festivals will be more careful when choosing their competitors.
That scene is not real, the dog and the dove were prepared for that scene.
