I wish I was in the land of cotton
Old times there are not forgotten
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie land
In Dixie land where I was born in
Early on one frosty morning
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie Land

CHORUS:
Then I wish I was in Dixie, hooray, hooray
In Dixie land I took my stand to live and die in Dixie
Away, away, away down south in Dixie
Away, away, away down south in Dixie

2) Old Missus marry Will the weaver
William was a gay deceiver
Look away...
But when he put his arms around her
He smiled as fierce as a forty pounder
Look away...

3) His face was sharp as a butcher's cleaver
But that did not seem to grieve her
Look away...
Old Missus acted the foolish part
And died for a man that broke her heart
Look away...

4) Now here's a health to the next old Missus
And all the girls that want to kiss us
Look away...
But if you want to drive 'way sorrow
Come and hear this song tomorrow
Look away...

5) There's buckwheat cakes and Ingen batter
Makes you fat or a little fatter
Look away...
Then hoe it down and scratch your grabble
To Dixie land I'm bound to trabble
Look away, look away, look away, Dixie Land.

NOTE: I am just a Southerner of the Dutch Mountains, who doesn't believe in victor's history or political correctness, but in free speech, the south of this whole planet, and the impartiality of music.

This was even Abraham Lincoln's favorite song and melody -- enough said!

In the end there is a little announcement about my spectacular upcoming collboration video!

  • Did you also do a cover of I'm a good ol' rebel? It turned out quite well actually. if that was you. This is one of my favorite songs (Dixie). Thanks for the time, effort, and upload. =)

  • @sonotarockstar Yes I also did the GOOD REBEL video, out here, in the Netherlands, before a cliff that resembles the South sort of ;)

Thank you for your kind words. I never expected this to attract much views, yet I came to understand the love for the song is of all ages and times. Which is grand!

  • @TheBoberton Read the declarations of secession and the confederate constitution. I dare you to find a SINGLE other issue besides slavery. Slavery is the ENTIRE reason the souther states seceded.

  • @TheBoberton

[Texas] was received..., maintaining and protecting the institution known as negro slavery-- the servitude of the African to the white race... which her people intended should exist in all future time...hostility to their system of African slavery, proclaiming the debasing doctrine of equality of all men, irrespective of race or color...They demand the abolition of negro slavery throughout the confederacy...the servitude of the African race...is ...the will of the Almighty Creator,

  • NICELY DONE GREAT WAY TO SHOW YOUR PRIDE GOD BLESS DIXE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Oh wait, there were two things I forgot, but again, small items. States gained the right to entreat their own waterways and to tariff their ports. But again, they lost sovereignty over slavery and were subject to a line item veto. That is a major federal power grab.

  • @CNS2

What, that they left out the term "perfect union" and moved "common defense?" Trivial. I did forget that they also took away the states right to determine voter eligibility. I guess that you could say that granting the states rights to impeach federal judges was a states rights issue, but that is about the judiciary, not about governance. They tweaked the commerce clause, but not in a way that increased state's rights. They include God. And of course they enshrine slavery.

  • BTW if the war was about slavery to the north then why was it NOT and official issue until 1863 and enacted into law 6 months after the war was over in December of 1865? Slavery as a sole issue for lincoln invading the South does not hold water, for the yankees it was money and territory. Further discussions between you and I are pointless, we will never convince each other of the validity of our arguments, good day sir.

  • @AngrySemite If you are reading the same two Constitutions as I then you are skipping several pertinent paragraphs and additionally you can invade your own country, as you put it when you attempt to coerce a member state to do something against their will and then send ARMED troops to force them to comply, in my mind and the minds of many others north and south that constitutes an invasion.
