  • Just wanted to ask about the VNAV DES page, so after you entered FL370, will the plane ascend to FL370 after reaching FL310 which was the FL you entered at the start , and why did you enter your new alt. at the Step Size area and not in the CRZ ALT area at the top left? Thanks, I hope you answer:D Most Thorough Tutorial EVER!!!!!!

  • Ok, you caught me. I mistakenly entered FL370 in the stepto entry. I realized that later in the flight, and put it in the CRZ ALT box, but that part ended up getting cut. That's why it "suddenly" appears in the CRZ ALT entry.

    You should put your desired or filed altitude in the CRZ ALT entry (on the left side) of that page.

  • could u please explain HOLD the FMC

  • It's for programming a holding pattern. That way the FMC will fly it in a hold until they clear you out and back onto the STAR.

  • you forgot to hit EXEC when u made the speed restriction thats why it went back to 230

  • These tutorials are excellent but I have a few questions because I am new to FSX, PMDG and the FMC and I am trying to match the programme described.

    My main question is divided into 2 comments because of the character count.

    Part 1 In the the VNAV mode of the FMC, I set the altitude on the right hand side of the screen to 370000 ft, as shown at 6.00 minutes of tutorial 4. At this point, both my screen and the tutorial screen show CRZ ALT of FL310 and STEP TO of FL370.

  • Part 2 Then, inflight, I set the Flight Director System altitude control to 37000 ft, as shown at 2.28 minutes of tutorial 6, but my FMC still shows CRZ ALT of FL310 and STEP TO of FL370. The tutorial 6 at 3.37 minutes shows CRZ ALT of FL370 and STEP TO of FL390 so, while the tutorial flight levels off at 37000 ft, mine levels off at 31000 ft.

    What have I missed?

    fmc programing is really complicated,their are so many things to think about and, you have to be aware of mistakes the computer might make. I think this video is bent towards the professional aviator, not the causal flight simmer. FMC'S are great but I'm going to stick with the simple GPS for navigation. I have always wanted a fmc but, if i have to do that much thinking before a flight...LOL...i would never get to where i want to go...@ least in one piece that is.
