CEO Roger Ailes rejects the accusation that Fox News is rigidly conservative. "We report, you decide," Ailes says. "We have as many liberals as we have conservatives on the Fox News Channel."

-----

Fox News CEO Roger Ailes talks about his recipe for a successful news network. "I recognized that the American people did not want to be told what to think about the information they were receiving...We just want a dialogue, and we believe the ideas and the issues will sort themselves out."

Is Ailes a conservative? Does Fox News shape the nation's politics, as many on the left claim? Ailes responds. He also offers up his expertise to our current commander-in-chief.

"[Barack Obama] is underexposed and overexposed. He said he was going to be transparent. He is not. So that is underexposure. Yet he is on television every time I look at the television set. He is overexposed, but he is not letting us in on any of the inner workings of what he is trying to accomplish." - Hoover Institution

Roger Ailes worked on Richard Nixon's 1968 campaign, on Ronald Reagan's 1984 reelection campaign, and on George H.W. Bush's 1988 campaign. In 1996 Ailes joined News Corp. to found a new cable network, Fox News, where his is now president and CEO.

Peter M. Robinson is a research fellow at the Hoover Institution, where he writes about business and politics, edits Hoover's quarterly journal, the Hoover Digest, and hosts Hoover's television program, Uncommon Knowledge.

  • This fat lying greasy hog is the icon of gluttony and selfish dishonesty. Enjoy your money now, Roger, because your legacy is a pile of shit.

  • We all know fox news is garbage. We shouldn't expect him to admit it.

  • There is a horrible growth in this slanted far-right media. The Tories, in the UK, are trying to overturn the legislation that forces TV news to be impartial and non-partisan.

On the internet there are hundreds of little Murdochs-in-waiting, one of the worst is a fascist DJ from Texas who has literally dozens of web-sites spewing out extremist-propaganda and wholly fictious news stories to an army of far-right cultists, some of whom have actually performed terrorist attacks.

    Very disturbing...

  • other than shep smith, what libs are on fox?

  • Is that Jabba the Hutt?

  • ROGER AILES = CARTMAN

  • Modernfreestyle, I just love the way you morons use the words "socialist" and "czar" interchangeably to describe Democrats. I swear, you are like a bunch of defective windup dolls.

  • @siradam575 You mean like every single European country that's about to go bankrupt? :P

First Greece, now Spain...see a pattern here? Face it--socialism does not work!

  • @Causa10bserver

no, as a matter of fact i was pointing out how silly thefalliblefiends comment was as if he was saying that you noticed but people who watch fox dont. i dont watch fox but im about as far to the right of the political spectrum as you can get. i agree about o'reilly and beck and i really like john stossel.

  • @oiuoiu988 And would you consider me a bad person if I were? In reality I can't stand Oreilly though I find Beck amusing in very, very small doses.

  • youre simply not undersatanding the axiom. its like if i say that team sports are based on the undisputable a priori proposition, WIN EVERY POSSESSION OF EVERY GAME, that doesnt mean its realistic that a team will win every possession of every game, yet if the participants dont hold this as their 1st principle sports would just be a mish-mosh of players deciding when the best time to put forth the effort they think they need to win the game or match.
