From Tempe, Arizona, in 1996. My last guest performance as a Coast Guard musician, playing Roger Kellaway's Morning Song. This is a fine euphonium solo, even though it was originally written for tuba player Roger Bobo. The range is from a low E-flat to a high B-flat.

  • Just a quick question if you still check this page: What size and brand of mouthpiece do you use for this song?

  • That would be a Denis Wick 4BL probably, maybe a Wick 4AL - I was in the middle of changing from the B to the A.

  • GBCE,

Sorry you didn't like it. Surprising, too, because it has been an audience favorite in many of my performances over the years, whether in church, for a low brass audience, or for a general audience. But that's why they write all different styles of music! Thanks for giving it a listen anyway.

  • I'm a musician.I'm a member of the AFM,and I've been performing professionally for over 40 years.I am very much familiar with Roger Kellaway and his music.I had his "Cello Quartet" lp and orginally the melody was carried by a cello.Nice adaptation!

  • Very Nice tone and love i love the musicality

  • How did you get so good, lots of practice?

  • Thanks for the comments,

TakamineandIbanez93. At the time of this recording I had been playing for 39 years. The instrument was a 4-valve compensating Sterling. I didn't start euphonium until 5th grade, so you have a virtual head start on me!

  • You are a very gracious man (in your response to GBCE). I LOVED the original recording of this song and have been looking for it for a long time. You're right - it never fails to be an audience favorite. You did an awesome job - I love the soaring notes near the end with the piano going crazy. It is an awesome break from the traditional classical rep! GBCE, you are obviously free to post comments on a video, but I don't get your purpose in being such an ass. Just don't click it again!

  • Excellent! I have an LP of the original Roger Kellaway Cello Quartet. Great job by you an your accompanist! GBCE has no clue what the hell he is talking about.
