Tops - One Little Kiss- Classic Philly Doo Wop Ballad

This is classic doo wop all the way. Quite a rare record. I first heard this in the mid-90s, and this copy is the only I've come across since then. I was surprised to see that there was no Madara-White involvement on this record

Chess records pressed this up and distributed it. This probably explains why my copy plays so well although it's in a low grade.. A lot of Chess stuff (especially the Sheldon masters) was like that. I don't see a Sheldon stamp in the dead wax, but I'm sure they were involved in this one to some degree

Also interesting to note this was the release that immediately followed At The Hop by Danny & The Juniors (which a rough looking copy did NOT ever play good for that one)....Singluar never kept to one label style for too long...i have seen so many different styles on that label, as if each release had a unique label!

Interesting. I've only seen this and Danny and The Juniors on Singular. My guess is the success of At The Hop is what got Singular the distribution deal with Chess for this release. It looks like Chess did all the work - pressing and everything

Singular was the first label to record Danny & The Junior's "At The Hop". Singular later sold the master to ABC-Paramount.
