@galanisj We wish there was a simple number to recommend, but unfortunately not. The amount of bunches has to do with vine balance. Vine balance is influenced by trellis, row spacing, roots stock, clone and irrigation practices in the specific soil type. Pruning weights is a good measure to determine vine balance. There is a great article about pruning weights and pounds per vine. YouTube doesn't allow links so Google cesanjoaquin ucdavis files 12499.

@HijoDeLaAlegria Thank you for your comment. My reply to you must have failed. We explained the reason for night-harvesting Merlot on our blog (not common like Chardonnay). It was all about timing of available crew this year.
