Original MONO version - an intimate and warm rendition of a really great timeless classic.
Simon & Garfunkel's breakthrough track 'The Sound of Silence' which was originally released in 1964 on the album 'Wednesday Morning, 3AM'.
According to wiki, this original version was just voices and guitar as S&G intended it. However, the record company later overdubbed drums, bass and electric guitar without consulting S&G. Interestingly, this 'produced' version became known as "the quintessential folk rock release" and a number one hit New Years Day 1966 establishing Simon & Garfunkel in the mainstream.
