  • The facts as best I have been able to determine. The boat was still there in Nov of 2008, as I took the pictures. It went aground in a NW blow after apparently hitting a rock near the coast about a mile or so, further north. It would cost more to retrieve and fix than it would be worth after doing so.

  • Is it still there?

  • Until it dissolves.

  • It was abandoned due to incapability to retrieve it, substantial damage to the hull and propellers, and too much equipment missing. It would have costed more to retrieve and restock the boat than to just abandon it, however saddening it is.

  • This boat was bought used by my family in 2000, and two years later we sold it. Those two years were a fantastic time for my family, and while we had sold the 62' in favor of the large 76', it devastated my entire family to hear of this happening. It ran aground in 2006, as said above, and one crew member died while trying to disembark from the side. Within days the boat was robbed and scavenged by locals who climbed to reach it, and no effort has been made to reach the boat.

  • i ask and a designer told me, if the hull is composite leave it there, a really nice boat, september will bring high tides, if still there , can i get it and fix it??

  • This my all time favorite boat. I would love to hear the details oh why it grounded and such. Really a sad end to a gorgeous boat!

  • A heartbreaking end to a stout and beautiful vessel. Despite the winds and sea state she was lost in, the Nordhavn 62 was designed to handle such conditions with relative ease. Such a stalwart vessel surely deserved a better master at her helm. What a shame.

  • i have a boat and seeing that scares me. still looks pretty intact though.

  • sorry to hear about death. any idea how they ran it up?
