Briefing the press on day four of the conference, UNFCCC Executive Secretary Yvo de Boer highlighted progress made in the area of technology, where there is agreement on a strong new structure to deliver on technology once the finance is in place.
This new technology mechanism includes an Executive Body responsible for accelerating action on technology development and transfer, and a new Consultative Network for Climate Technologies.
Mr. de Boer announced that negotiators have two days left before Ministers begin to arrive on Saturday, when the COP President will take stock of progress so far.
On the question of the continuation of the Kyoto Protocol, Mr. de Boer said that the Kyoto Protocol will and must survive, emphasizing that the Kyoto Protocol is the only legally binding instrument we have to act on climate change. He pointed out the time needed for a new instrument to be ratified and enter into force, and stressed the importance for the market mechanisms of avoiding any gap.

These video clips do very little to clarify what the entire conference is doing.
If you really want to learn about the conference go to the UNFCCC website. There you can watch all the video streams and read 1000s of documents.
The giant western media is spreading a lot of misinformation. They pick a 20 sec clip to wrap up a 6 hour discussion.

I disagree that this deals have to be legally binding, this is against all our constitutions, being part of an international community doesn't mean we have to be part of a global monetary ponzi pyramid based on speculation, regardless how big a conspiracy is CLIMATE GATE it is a coordinated attack on liberty, but the fact that the earth manages it self, and each country can deal its way out of pollutant industries with the guidance of world partners, but never a world science religion tax police
