The final match in Enugu pits Group D winners Turkey, playing on familiar surroundings after two earlier matches on the artificial surface of the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, against Group E third-place side United Arab Emirates. The Turks will of course start as warm favourites based on their previous showings where they were the first team at the tournament to sew up top-spot, though they did draw their final group match against New Zealand with a significantly changed side. UAE only squeezed through to the last 16 by the narrowest of margins, by virtue of a Fair-Play countback after being tied with Brazil and the Netherlands on all other criteria, though the euphoria of qualification is likely to see the underdogs maintain a certain degree of confidence.

The game
Turkey-United Arab Emirates, Enugu, Wednesday 4 November, 19:00 (local time)

The stakes
United Arab Emirates have already achieved unprecedented success by progressing to the knockout stage for the first time at a FIFA U-17 World Cup. The UAE have displayed impressive resilience in their three matches to date, notably against USA where a battling performance resulted in a narrow 1-0 defeat, with the defensive effort enough to help the team over the qualification line. The UAE defensive formation will need to be at their sharpest to hold Turkey and their mobile attacking force, led by impressive striker Muhammet Demir, at bay.

After a promising start in their 1-0 win against Burkina Faso, the Turks were irrepressible against Costa Rica, but then Abdullah Ercan changed his side substantially for his team's inconsequential final match against New Zealand, with Turkey having now utilised all 21 players in the squad. The only question will be whether the Turks have lost some of their momentum, or be freshened up by the rotation of squad personnel.

The stat
3 - In both of their opening two matches Turkey scored in the third minute of play. Across the 36 matches played in the group stage, only seven of the 94 goals have been scored in the opening 10 minutes, with two of those strikes from Turkish stars Muhammet Demir and Omer Ali Sahiner.

The words
"My players are ready for the match mentally and physically, and we have no injuries. The UAE are a good team and they can play good technical football." Abdullah Ercan, Turkey coach.

"We are really excited about being in the second round. I am sure we can do something big in the Round of 16. There are no easy rivals at this stage. If we want to win the competition, we have to beat our rivals, no matter who there are." Al Arfi, UAE assistant coach.
