We've been doing a test with a new website called Be a Magpie (www.be-a-magpie.com). It's a Berlin based company that's an ad network for Twitter. They make those that want to serve ads in their tweets with advertisers.
The cool thing as an advertiser is that you can build your campaign around keywords that are found in Twitter profiles. In the couple tests I've done, we've gotten pretty good click-through rates. The ad we ran was designed to get followers to visit our blog at www.clickforclients.com/blog.
My concern is that its a bit spammy, but it's up to the reader to decide to take action or not. While the traffic generated was good, I wonder if Twitter will allow this kind of service in the long run. Right now, Twitter is a bit like the Wild West.
Have an opinion? Send me a Tweet @clickforclients
