Wow, it feels weird seeing a movie that's over 100 years old.

Sometimes in old movies like this, they would actually paint every individual frame in the film reel to get color.

The first Western ever to be filmed.

The first film with a real action, is not, as many believe, the journey to the moon.
There is an earlier film by Georges Méliès called Cléopâtre from the year 1899.

scene at 3:15 reminds me of the train scene at the end of Marx Bros film "Go West"

also, can someone tell me if this music was on original piece played along side this film or is it just added in to keep ppl from complaining about the length of silence?

I am not certain, but most likely, this music was not original to the film (as it is a silent film) and was added to keep viewer interest. Originally, most silent films had piano players playing in rough correlation (tempo, dramaticness) to whatever film was playing.

Martin Scorcesse made reference to this film in The Goodfellas, when in the end of the film Joe Pesci shoots his gun at the screen. Both movies are awesome. Thank you for posting it.

The first film ever made was at least 15 years before this.
