A fleeing suspect engages Brockton police in a shootout, which ended when the suspect surrendered after crashing into two cars in the city. Three people were shot by the suspect before the chase started, two of them died as a result of their injuries. Keith Luke Spree Killing

The Enterprise of Brockton, Mass. www.enterprisenews.com By Maureen Boyle ENTERPRISE STAFF WRITER BROCKTON — A gunman led police on a wild chase through the city after three people were shot — one fatally — this afternoon. The gunman, now in custody, fired at pursuing police cruisers as he sped through the city before crashing at Court and North Quincy Streets, authorities said. One woman was reported fatally shot on Clinton Street and another wounded. A man believed to be homeless was wounded as he pushed a shopping carriage filled with cans up the street, witnesses said. At least one shot pierced a window of a cruiser, missing one officer by inches, authorities said. A second cruiser blocking an intersection in an attempt to stop the suspect and prevent motorists from injury was also peppered by gunfire. The suspect, believed to be in his 20s, was arrested at the scene. His name was not immediately available. Area schools were alerted and students going home were rerouted. The wild scene came after police were called to Clinton Street to investigate a report of a shooting at 12:50 p.m. The black van driven by the shooting suspect left Clinton Street and was seen fleeing toward Grove Street. The vehicle went from Lyman to Cary Street then up to Court Street where it crashed by North Quincy Street. The two women shot were outside a Clinton Street house. Witnesses said the man, believed to be homeless, collapsed in front of 59 Clinton St., and residents of the street who said they knew him tried to provide assistance. The man was reportedly shot in the face, and blood stained the street where he collapsed. The shootings happened a block away from the city's Gilmore Academy school

  • These people are sick being on the side of the criminals. They can see a video with a guy robbing a bank and shooting at people then if the cops throw him down they cry and say the police are mean and evil. Don't commit crimes and you most likely will not have any problems.

  • Thank God for Cops
