Wait a minute: "We've never had so much of everything!" Who's actually speaking here? Certainly NOT the millions of working people who suffered severe wage cuts in the last three decades. Certainly NOT the thousands of Americans who lost their homes during the financial crisis. "Action for happiness" covers up social contradictions as some sort of psychological disorder. What a SHAME!

Wonderful movement! We've started down our road to happiness by helping others in New Zealand. Thanks for sharing!

I'm looking for the that video with the german subtitle, but I haven't found it. Does anyone know if it exists? Thanks

Many people in much poorer parts of the world seem much happier than we are. There are often much closer family and community ties that we have, so people depend on and help each other. This fits with the ideas in the film, that when you help someone else, even in a small way, you feel good. Of course, anybody would be unhappy if they or their children were hungry or they had nowhere to live. I am glad that action for happiness is making us think about how to make our world a happier place.

@dabbiii How is it stupid? The video just explains the reasons to be nice to other people, which you seem to be struggling with.

This video is stupid, this video is one of the worlds diseases. Fuck y'all.

Those quotes and figures are from their website as appose to the video. I should also say that some of the criticism in Campaign is completely founded, such as the comments about the underwhelming VO.

This was slated in Campaign, can't help feel an element of the negativity is due to an inability to reconcile the ethos of the two parties... Campaign can't very well go about telling people that material possessions are a bad thing! Does all feel a little twee and toothless and the statement "only 10% of our happiness comes from income and environment" sounds like a complete and utter fallacy. If you have no money, you can't instigate the more contributing* "activities and relationships"
The reason for many people being unhappy is because of the way Britain is run. We have a government mainly made up of multi-millionaires grinding people into the ground. There are over 2 million people unemployed and it is going to get worse. If you want people to be more happy it would require a massive shift in the way we organise ourselves as a country. People are kept down by the class system and a lack of social mobility. If those problems were addressed we may become a happier nation.
