I had just finished putting together the engine after a block guard install. I also retarded the exhaust cam 8 degrees to eliminate the overlap on the Nismo cams. It is also running with an open header since one of the spring bolts broke while removing them.

  • burning coolant?.. love the car... just curious as to why the supercharger instead of turbo.. i know the ups and downs of both just curious of your decision..

  • @FWEvilWhiteBoy I dont think I was burning coolant, cant remember that far back.

I wanted supercharger cuz I dont like lag, however I moved to colorado springs back then and at 7600 feet in elevation, it went from starting to make boost at 1500rpm to 3500rpm just from the elevation change and I lost 3-4psi of top end boost. I had to retune and all this crap. If I had stayed in Alabama at sea level, easy 12 second car. however up here in this hight elevation, I barely broke 14s.

  • @FWEvilWhiteBoy Turbo would have been a better choice at this high elevation. If I could do it over again, turbo would be my choice.

  • Nice job, I've being watching your other vids and the car seems to be running smoothly. I c that a supercharger can be much more expensive than a turbo for our spec v's. I find it to be kindda messed up lol

I am planing to stay N/A with my spec V with all the bolts on's and go with NOS later on. If I get some vid's I'll post them on youtube.

Thanxs for the reply, and keep up the good work

  • Yes, the Supercharger can me a lot more expensive than your standard turbo setup. Specifically because the supercharger's brand is Procharger, that single unit is more than half the cost of the entire kit. New things are starting to come out of the woodwork, so I say, within the year, There will be more and more Spec Vs breaking that virtually unattainable 200whp mark. It will take a standalone ECU to do it, but it can be done easily.

  • The supercharger is running fine, i had just removed the head, installed a blockguard and advanced the exhaust cam 8 degrees to eliminate valve overlap. i wanted to hear if there was any difference to the exhaust sound mainly is why this video exists.

a turbo kit is cheaper by a couple thousand dollars. if i were to do it again, i would have went turbo for the simple fact that i would have saved money.

as for the valve cover, i sanded it, painted it with engine primer, and used red metalicast.
