You can heat and warm your car without having it run. Put a space heater on the floor, let it run for a few minutes. Warms up much faster too. Defrosts the window and makes it warm inside. Can also help clear off ice from the windows too. Beats letting your car idle until it gets warm which takes forever. A lot cheaper too, idling your car wastes a lot of gas just to make it warm. Unplug the cord, pack up and go. Car will stay warm enough from the space heater to keep you comfy until the car warms up from driving.

  • @01fastrace Guess adding an automatic would make it easier to drive, but you lose the ability to glide and coast. Know I really scored getting it for free and not having to fix much.

  • These are very neat cars. The Diesel engine Tempo/Topaz cars are so hard to find. I bet that less than 200- are left in the whole United States. My neighbor had a chocolate brown 84 Tempo diesel. She was getting about 50 mpg also. Her husband, at her request, converted the car to an automatic transmission and then they got rid of it. Once they somehow rigged the automatic to it, the mpg's dropped to the high 30's. They got rid of it because it was simply too small of a vehicle.
