Tulipa Series

ABOUT THE TULIPA SERIES

I have long been attracted to the red and white Parrot Tulip, and have built a series of Tulipa drawings from my observations of the undulating petal edges and the strong color contrasts. The Tulipa Series thus far includes:

• Tulipa I
• Tulipa II
• Tulipa III
• Tulipa, Preparing the Bouquet

Although the Tulipa drawings, to a certain extent, are representational, I consider them abstract drawings due to the high contrast of the blacks and greys of the charcoal on smooth white Bristol board. The drawings measure 11 x 14 inches.
