In the 2010 NASA Authorization the Congress almost jokingly called for Orion-MPCV to be made available as a "backup" to commercial crew vehicles. At the time, everyone with half a clue knew this was never going to happen. Congress continued to suffer under this stupid concept until this week when NASA Administrator Charles Bolden Jr. informed them that Orion-MPCV would not be available to fly astronauts until 2020, at least 5 years after the expected first flight of a commercial crew vehicle.
In this video we can see Rep. Harris slowly come to this conclusion all on his own. It's a rare case of a politician actually using logic.
fucking politics and beauracracy :(

Nice find quantum!
Bolden once again proves he should never have been hired to run NASA. He didn't even have the balls to resign when the administration decided to kill NASA's human space exploraiton.

The absurdity of the argument is soon going to be overwhelming. What will be sad, however, is when SpaceX employees are visiting the ISS on spacecraft built by their company. I wonder when it will finally hit members of congress how bad this is getting.
