this was Dean Chenoweth's crash at Lake Washington in Seattle in 1979 (non-fatal). he was going for a mile run in the "Miss Budweiser" boat. the boat was rebuilt in 1980 and Dean was killed in a crash in it in 1982. credit goes to "wahydro" and "Hoppitude" for the info. thnx guys!!!

  • You are kind of close here.. It is Lk. Washington, however this is the #2 boat that was at Seafair and did have the same rudder issue at the #1 boat on the mile speed  attempt the fall before. This boat was rebuilt by Ron Jones in Kent Wa. I know as I was on the crew.

  • thank you guys so much! that info was like impossible to find since i had no idea what the video was. i will now change the info.

  • The 1979 Bud lost its rudder and crashed at seattle trying to set a mile record, wrecking the boat. The boat we have was built the next winter for the 1980 season as an almost exact duplicate. The other boat survives as a ball of wreckage in a Detroit warehouse. Everything was stripped off that boat to build ours. There are some awesome photos of this accident out there.

  • 1979 on Lake Washington driver is Dean Chenoweth in Miss Budweiser boat built by Ron Jones Sr supported by a 2240 C.I. Griffon powerplant during a mile record run. Boat was rebuilt in time for 1980 season known as the Juggernaut it crashed in 1982 at Tri-Cities unfortunatly killin Dean. Since then it was rebult by the hydro and raceboat museum.
