  • They have an office right here in Hong Kong, but first you must do a little something for Mr Wong, ok beautifuol lady? do we have deal?

  • Thanks for posting this! We use to recite this ad on the way to school it the early 80s. "What kind were they?" still lives on. I screeched when I found this. I played it to my mum over the phone with only the audio and she guessed what it was from the woman trying to sell the birds! Incredible!

  • @vanessagx No it is not wong ;)

  • "Mr Wong! Mr Wong!"

(Fifty Hong Kong residents respond in unison)

    "Yes?"

"Mr Wong! Mr Wong! I've lost my travelers cheques!"

"Don't worry, we have an office right here in Hong Kong."

    "But we're in Tahiti!!"

"Mr Wong! Mr Wong! I've lost my travelers cheques!"

    "Awww... What kind were they?"

    "Paper ones."

All popular schoolyard variants of the day. And don't tell me they're lame, I think they're pretty good for six year olds!

  • hhooooohhh, wot kind were dey??? LOL we used to say this all the time as kids

  • Ah, ha row cookie boy!

  • That grandma who was holding a birdcage (with two ducks in it) swinging it in front of that young Aussie lady's face (at the beginning of the ad) was a rather famous supporting actress of Hong Kong's television station - TVB. She's called Chan Lap-bun 陳立品. She was most remembered in TVB Jade from 1971 to 1988 (She's 77 years old in her last year at TVB).

  • this is so not 1980, much later

  • tHE REASON ITS MEMORABLE AFTER 30+ YEARS - ITS THE TONE OF THE WAY SHE SAYS "mr wong" ITS VERY RESONANT WITH BASE EMOTIONS
