Governor Jennifer Granholm discusses the importance of broadband connectivity to Michigan's economy and education. She discusses how libraries play a strong role in the provision of public access computers and resources to assist job seekers and small business owners, and encourages collaboration between libraries, schools, local governments, businesses, and other agencies in order to achieve the ever-growing capacity necessary to serve Michigan residents statewide.

  • In Japan, "cable" means fiberoptic cable and subscribers pay mush less. The gov. took a charge to broke up the telecom companies in small size for more competitiveness and subsidized its infrastrucute cost.

    US gov, have been doing totally opposite. Why? Because telecom companies, cable companies have been lobbying to keep it that way.

  • The "need for broadband"?! Get some plow trucks and salt on the roads. Two words. Fire Granholm!

  • Michigan should try broadband over power lines. I think it would be a good idea to let the post office do this. it will give a new purpose to them.
