Me playing on a reconstruction of the Louvre auloi (Pl. of Ancient Greek aulos) made by master Thomas Rezanka (Steyr, Austria).

Both pipes are fitted with double reeds. Together with the rather large cylindrical bore of 8mm, this produces a sound between a clarinet and a krumhorn. The left-hand pipe has got 7 holes, the right one 10 - some of them can be closed by straps in order to produce different scales.

The tunes are a part of the Bellermann anonymi, short instrumental tunes from the Hellenistic period.

Recorded at the bagpipe & hurdy gurdy seminar "Augustin" in Seekirchen/Wallersee, Salzburg, Austria.
