Part 1

This is a diagnostics test video log recording all the problems with my new/refurbished Dell XPS M1530 laptop. Hopefully this video will aid in replacing my laptop now that it is out for the world to see. Here is the background to my story:

I Waited weeks for my Dell XPS M1530 (Purchased it from Dell Outlet.) When I got it I noticed a few things that weren't right. I Called and troubleshot over the phone and online through Dell chat. I eventually got it sent to the Dell Repair Depot but their techs could find nothing wrong after "Days of Testing". I ran some diagnostic tests the day I got it back from them. This was a month and six days later from the day it was shipped from Dell. After just a few minutes of testing I got an error for the LCD inverter. I also received a power error upon booting up and I have backlight issues for my LED's. I also have a problem with the bio-scanner. All of this has been documented on this short video. To top it off it looks like my screen had someone's greasy face smeared across it and then a little "wax on wax off" action applied to it. There were a bunch of scratched near the top of the keyboard bezel as well.

If anyone else has had issues like this I would love to hear from you. Maybe then we can get something accomplished together. I usually buy my computers from the Dell Outlet and have never had any issues from them. When I received this one I called and complained but they didn't want to be bothered with replacing it. Oh well, well see about that now.

Let me know if you have had similar issues with Dell relating to receiving a broken product.

  • If you got insurance from dell you wouldent have this issue

  • That issue is irrelevant. I had received the laptop in that condition- therefore they needed to replacement. Now, I do agree with you on the insurance idea if it had been happening a year or two down the road. Maybe I will purchase the insurance on it at some point.

  • @MikeAndSuch What exactly are you talking about?

  • The fix for this is replacing the screen. The inverter that is under the display will not correct the problem, the problem in the inverter attached to the back of the screen not being able to turn on the bottom lamp.

  • Replaced my inverter due to error code 0326 via dell diagnostics. Still have the lines in the display. How the hell do you fix this issue?

  • What is the fix for this? I have the same problem with mine. Is is basically swapping out the led panel? Thanks

  • @MikeAndSuch Hahahaha lol. weird how people go through so much to get something simple done.

get the proper dell stuff dude. netsurit com

  • LED LCD just means that instead of fluorescent backlighting you have LED to light it up instead.

I would recommend ditching Windows permanently for Linux.

  • Quick Fix 3: Build your own PC and have the best computer you've ever owned!!!

I think quick fix 3 is the best option!!!

  • Well why did you not watch and tell the technician to replace the part he damaged?! I have m1530 and almost all of the rubber feet are gone, so flimsy, the GPU temp is frying my card, I am so DONE with dell and I should have honestly bought a Mac. I'm quite ready to migrate to Ubuntu and OSX next year. This sucks!

  • well you said refurb. i was gonna say probably gpu issues as well but

  • hey guys i have a question would dell do anything about this i got a Dell Tech to come by my house yesterday to replace my keyboard on my Dell M1530 and they scratched the shit out of the piece where my power button is and what not would they replace that or no
